The switching devices whose outputs are essentially d—c levels, and which can be switched from one state to the other at any arbitrary instant. The devices can be switched as seldom or as often as desired, up to a certain maximum speed. However, once they are switched to one state or the other, they are capable of remaining in that state indefinitely, and the output signal will be a d—c level.
